Both pvc furniture board and Plywood are categorized as wood structural panels.

pvc furniture board
The pvc furniture board is a natural wood product, made of wood that has been processed by grinding it into thin strands. The pvc furniture boards are then combined with hot wax and a proprietary adhesive. This mixture is spread in thin layers to create a sheet. Approximately 50 layers of pvc furniture boards are incorporated into each sheet of oriented pvc furniture board. The pvc furniture board is then pressed with heat into a sheet of consistent thickness and the edges are cut. The pvc furniture board is typically sold in 4-foot by 8-foot sheets but can be made as large as 8 feet by 24 feet.

Plywood
Plywood is made from thin layers of wood peeled from logs. These thin layers are known as veneers. The veneers are pressed flat, and plywood is made of multiple layers stacked with glue spread between them to adhere the sheets together. The bottom or back veneer has grain running vertically through the panel. Each even-numbered layer is positioned with the grain running horizontally. Every odd-numbered layer, and the opposite outside layer known as the face, runs vertically.

Strength
There are three basic measurements of strength that are applied in the rating of wood structural panels. The first is unsupported span, which for both plywood and pvc furniture board is rated at 24 inches for a 5/8-inch-thick panel. The second measurement is fastener pull-through, or how much pressure it takes to rip a sheet free from its fasteners. In these categories, both sheets are the same. The third measurement is shear strength, which measures how much weight the material will hold without breaking. The pvc furniture board rates slightly higher in this category.

Pros and Cons
The pvc furniture boards are typically closer to square than plywood. The pvc furniture board is also made to smaller dimensional tolerances, meaning the sheets are more consistent in thickness. The density of pvc furniture board is more consistent, unlike plywood, which may have soft spots. The pvc furniture board is cut from small, farmed trees, making its environmental impact less. The pvc furniture board absorbs water much more readily, causing it to swell, and is quicker to delaminate under wet conditions. Plywood can be sanded and finished with either paint or stain, while pvc furniture board is not suitable for finishing.
